A Little "Manly" Music For: "Manly" Poetry To The World !

"Men" and "Poetry" Don't Go Together...Do They ?

ΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞΞ

Men don't need no bunch of stinkin' flowery prose...

To read things like...rhymes... and romantic stuff...that's compared to a rose.

We don't have time for a bunch of quaint nauseating passages...

We got better things to do...like tailgate for the game...and grill Brat Sausages.

We got to snap in 3/8 sockets for us to ratchet...

We got many dead branches lying around for us to hatchet.

We are too busy working around the house...on little things that need attention...

Not for silly sayings...that need portraying...In some "Artsy" book that women mention.

Men want the cold hard facts...with a technical illustration...

We want photos...not frilly, dainty words...left up to the imagination.

Can you handle a 4 barrel carburetor that needs its' air mixture adjusted ?

Not if you're busy writing "Poetry"...You're some kind of weirdo...that can't be trusted !

"Manly" Poetry Will Go Forth To All The World...!

Arnold Schwarzenegger as "Conan" (This pic from "Conan, the Barbarian", 1982)

And I Am Just The "Man" To Do It !

From the inner thinkings of a man...hath come forth words in the "Manly" Poetry that I render...

And from this day forward...Shall my Poems be re-affirmed "Manly"...Let no one try to hinder.

Forged of sweat...mindful of the Quest that was begun...

Manly Poetry Man set out to bring the World his Poetry...And Do It Just For Fun !

Conqueering misconceptions that Poetry was all flowery...and frilly...and stuffy...

This Man of Poetry...arrived on the stage...uttering his Poems...and did so very toughly !

Few have unleashed...the power of Poetry...out to all men...

Like the one known as "Manly Poetry Man"...has the power to send!

From a land proud...and a man who came from it...

Steps out a "Poet" ..who writes like the "Men of Old" had once long ago...done it!

A Poet among men...who rode into town..."Manly Poetry Man" is what is his name...

He rode into town to say..."Manly" Poetry to the World...That's what he has come to proclaim!

Oh...So You're Too Tough For Poetry...Huh ?

Real Men have brains...they don't need you to say...

That Poetry is just light "Romantic Passages"...Not done in a "Manly" way.

Can Poetry be bold...or Can it tell a wonderful tale...?

Can Poetry weave a plot...better than any story for sale ?

Yes...I say..."Manly" Poetry can do all that...and even rule the day...

Nothing "Girly" about "Manly" words...Set in theme...and "Manly" by what they portray.

Sure...you may have to reset a little of the "sensitive" gear...you have...back into place...

Give me a break...I know things get to us men...I've seen compassion on many a man's face.

That's 'cause...Real Men are in touch with the Human Condition known as "Having a Heart"...

Well...at least some of the time...It can happen to us men...and it ain't 'cause of a brain fart !

Men got something on the inside that is buried down deep for emergencies...and that is pretty cool...

We "Men" don't want to be in the middle of getting the job done...and be weeping like a kid in pre-school.

Go on ahead with your "Bad Self"...Play it cool...Act like you don't read Poetry or care...

I'll Shout Out Anyways: "Manly" Poetry to the World...That's what I'm here to declare!

John Wayne in any of his Classic Westerns: "Rio Lobo", "Sons of Katie Elder", "El Dorado", "The War Wagon", "The Cowboys"...Etc. (picture found on: http://www.allposters.com/-sp/John-Wayne-Posters_i2621411_.htm)

What is "Manly" Poetry ?

Words came to the Man known as "Manly Poetry Man"...On a Day that was kind'a Dull...

And before he knew it...he couldn't get the Words...Out'ta his Thick Skull.

The Rhymes rang inside his head until he thought..."They Must Serve A Purpose!"

"I'll think of a way for a Man to Write Poems...Without sounding like a Complete Dumfuss!"

And on that day..."Manly Poetry Man"...Wrote down all his thoughts...Using Rhyming Words...

And said to himself, "My poems must not sound like poems from some Gweebicile, Dorky, Nerds !

I must Fight to make them..."Manly" Poems...My Path has now been set which I must pursue...

I Will Bring "Manly" Poetry To The World...Yeah...That's What I'm Going To Do !"

And from that day...until now..."Manly" Poetry has gone forth...

Spreading the News that Poetry can be "Manly"...For All That It's Worth.

"Manly" Poetry with a little history, humor...or tells a story...or expresses an idea...

The Kind of Poetry that makes you think about something...Or makes you go..."Gee, Uh?"

I'm not knocking Poetry with different shades to it...It is not my purpose to discourage...

Only want my "Manly" poems to incude men in the audience...That's what I'm trying to encourage.

In Poetry form of thought put down into some prose or rhyme...

Enduring stealth wisdom handed down..through the course of time.

Artistic Ideas stated in clear definition...or perhaps...with their meaning hidden...

Poetry from a Man's heart to the World...that was carefully conceived and written.

Real Men Of Action...Down Through History:

CAPT. JOHN PAUL JONES

COMMANDING

USS BONHOMME RICHARD

http://www.ussbhr.org/Bon_Homme.html

"The most remarkable single ship duel of the American Revolution was between the Bonne Homme Richard commanded by John Paul Jones and the HMS Serapis. The duel took place on September 23, 1779. The Serapis was a 50 gun ship of the line, that outgunned the Bonne Homme Richard which was barely sea worthy. When the captain of the Serapis hailed the Bonne Homme Richard and demanded surrender, John Paul Jones answered:" Surrender be dammed, I have not yet begun to fight." The Bon Homme Richard went on to vanquish the Serapis." As quoted from the above link.

Lieutenant Colonel William Barret Travis Of The Alamo

Dates and Description of Events are Quoted from the link below:

The Battle of the Alamo:

February 24, 1836--Santa Anna arrived at Bejar with the first part of his army and the siege of the Alamo began.

February 24, 1836--Travis wrote his famous letter to "the people of Texas and all Americans of the world" requesting reinforcements. In the coming days, there were several more requests by Travis for reinforcements.

March 5, 1836--Travis drew a line in the sand and gave every man the choice to cross the line and join him in a fight to the death to defend the Alamo. All but one man crossed.

March 6, 1836--The battle of the Alamo. Travis died during the early part of the battle with a bullet to the head. He was observed on the ramparts firing in defiance. In a matter of hours, all the American defenders were killed and the Mexicans claimed the victory.

Commander of the U.S. Third Army, General George S. Patton

"A man must know his destiny. if he does not recognize it, then he is lost. Fate will reach out and tap a man on the shoulder, and fate will point out to him what fork in the road he should take, if he has the guts, he will take it."

Wow..! What a poetic explosion that was...Blasted me out of my chair and had me cheering !!!...You mentioned the JPJ comment on the Bon Homme Richard...you forgot to mention the comment by the three-times wounded Gunny Sgt. up in the masts when he heard JPJ shout " I have not yet begun to fight "...He looked down at his Captain and mumbled " Goddam 10% that never gets the word "...

Chesty was the man, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division...now he would have appreciated your Manly poetry...

maven101: How'd you like seeing "Chesty" in the heart of this one ? I tell you...I must be "Kooky" to put the likes of all these different "manly" personas...into a "Manly" Poem. Yes..."Chesty" was the man! "A Marine's Marine"...which is a very high tribute to pay any Marine! JPJ, Wm. B. Travis, and Gen. Patton are highly esteemed for heroics...as well...right along with him...in my book! (And...this here poem!) And I could sure go on about many, many more...! Thank you for your comments, my friend Larry...and a very Happy Holiday Season to you and all your family.

I*n*v*i*c*t*u*s: My "Poet" friend...I have read many of your works...and enjoyed them! Actually...I appreciate Poetry in all it's forms...that is why I say it gets a bad rap. I appreciate the format where a "Poem" can deliver a message! We were always taught in school as kids that "Poets" were "Romantics"...Meanwhile one of the ones that seared in my brain during some boring English class...with my mind 1/2 daydreaming into space...was "The Charge of the Light Brigade". So you could say that I always want to "bring it" with Poetry of that kind! I don't know if I would write poems of puddles of laced lovliness...But I would write one on grilling Brat Sausages...and Destroying Things Overnight...Ha ! :) LoL! Thank You...so much for your great comment and for reading my "Manly" Poem. Glad you liked this one on: "Manly" Poetry to the World...Ha! Humblest Regards, MPM!
