Life on "Pause"
74
Sometimes I reach a point in life....where it feels like life is on "Pause"...
And I can't wait...until this point in time that I am frozen in....eventually thaws.
It is like...a great big "Pause Button"...has been pressed...that holds me here...
Oh ...the dull monotony of it all...the same-the same-the same...year after year.
Each step a struggle...to achieve the simplest things...
Each morning...looking for the hope...that each new day brings,
Another day gone...much the same...to heap upon the pile...
Another place...to be at for the moment...Is it all worthwhile ?
Faced with so many possibilities...that can never start...
How long must they play their games...Rejection begins to erode one's heart.
A New day...to watch the world pass you by...
For loss of opportunities...I could hold my head down...and cry.
A footnote...is what this time should have been...in my eyes...
A mega-long endless movie series it has become..with out rights to the franchise.
Boring...to say the least...no adventure...and lacking fun...
Working to pay-out for everything...and then get back on the treadmill...'Cause I ain't done.
It is really nothing new...
Something we all must do.
But...I would like to set off a spark...
If given a chance...Maybe...even leave my mark.
Upon this Globe...that keeps spinning 'round and 'round...
I want to jump to the next intersecting point in time and space...No...I want to bound !
Remove the shackle that encases my dream...and bust that "Pause Button"...once and for all...
I'm tired of reaching each end of the day...where all I have to show...is "I'm still standing tall !"
Depressing?...You might say...Well maybe "Yes" and...maybe "No"...
Partly because...I want to move on...Partly because...that's just how things go !
I am trying to read the fine print...and trying to discover under which clause...
Where it says it is alright to keep my Life here...at this point...stuck on "Pause".
By what grand design...in the scheme of things...across the Universe...and all it displays ?
Has it become necessary to hold me here at this spot...stuck here in this time and place.
To move forward...I would...though I would stagger each step...by one step...at a time...
Surely...I move up ahead...I know that I saw that once...somewhere in my mind.
I pry back the "Pause" button that keeps me here...only to find...
That activating the "Pause" button on my life...has got me running...way far behind.
To tear out the things that hold me back...to bust out free from where I've become froze...
Takes me to the new things...just up ahead...Takes to me to new places...where no one hardly goes.
When...I get further on... and look back...at all the time my Life was on "Pause" right here...
I'll laugh that I conquered the "Pause"...(*) "I came...I saw...I kicked Its' _ss!"...Is what I'll cheer !
Interject Footnote Comment Here:
The "Pause" is lifted for me now...and things around me...start moving once again...
And I am free to move all around once again...Out there...moving with the driftin' wind.
There'll be no more "Pause" Buttons on our lifes...From this point on...we move the ball down field...on a well-coordinated Offense Attack...
So join with me...and rip your "Pause" button away...that holds each and everyone of us...back !

Well done, Manly. I however, think I need more pauses in my life. Things are going a bit too fast for my tastes (my niece and nephews are growing up way too fast). But time waits for no for no man, not even a manly poetry man :)
Interesting and entertaining with lots to ponder. Thanks
Maybe I'm on a different planet but I wish I had a "pause" button because it all too often feels as if there are not enough hours in a day or days in a week. I want to be able to stop and smell the roses, spend more time with my grandchildren and less time putting out fires and chasing after wind. Great poem - as usual - thanks for sharing!
Great poem. Thank you sir!
Great one, I really admire your poems. They are so fun and thanks for letting me put the face to the words.
I'v been stuck on pause to many times.Lookng out a the world and people around me moving forward.Getting ahead.Pause is in the eye of the beholder I guess.Somedays my eyes try to push that pause button TO pause.Sometimes I hit that pause button to get myself moving again.I'v found that out of the depths I usually rise higher that I was before.Great poem I very much enjoyed it...
I'm on pause and I like it!
I think I need a new remote...my "Pause" button seems stuck! hmm...maybe I'll just change the batteries.... Great poem, MPM! Time never stands still, though we may feel that it does. Sometimes, I wish there were a pause button, and a rewind, and a forward, and a skip..... :D
Thanks MPM. Love that you took a pause for your photo. You look great! xox
Manly, there are days when I am on pause and it's just as you describe it and there are days when I am desperately looking for the pause button! lol! One of these days I'm gonna be in synch -- I hope!
Sometimes, the "Pause" button is a good thing to have around. We sometimes overextend the things Jesus wants us to do and we get into the realm of "I can figure the rest out." We go beyond the boundaries.
So, before we drive over the cliff of our own understanding, "pause" puts on the brakes for us to fall back, regroup and get it done the way He wants it done.
We should take some pauses before it really stops, wonderful poetry...
It looks like I am not releasing my pause button.
Will it be a problem with the button, or with the will to press it back - i can't figure it out!
Ahh, the 'pause' button. This is quite an amazing piece! :) I had often wished for a pause and have lived one in a sense for a bit now.. oh, to come out of pause.. Hahahahaha! All the same, somethings just don't slow enough, even if we do. Though we can slow to appreciate them, in the moment.. Excellent!
what a nice and encouraging piece, lovely and yes everybody of us at times, is at pause, but then its time to do like the GHOSTBUSTERS hehehe, nice one here really manly, I like this piece inspirational plus with humour, whats not to like, thumbs up,
Thank you for inspiring me and for smiles, Maita
WOW, so glad I found you, I was following a lead from IntematEvolutions new hub titled, my sixtieth hub where you are mentioned.
A brilliant poem, that everyone and their brother can relate to. I am forever overwhelmed with the demands and challenges of every day life. I don't know about anyone else, but I sure would love to have a pause button. I vote for the pause button. Life on hold for a short time could be a good thing.
Needless to say, "Life is Good!"
I really enjoyed this poem, nice job.
Sage
with everything on fast foward...it was nice to pause here...:) thanks..
Very thought-provoking - your thoughts led me to believe that we should have many more pauses before we make a final fullstop...
Another great hub manlypoetryman!
Thank you, sir, for this wonderful poem. I feel quite uplifted.
I feel like my life has hit the pause button for two years. Am actively searching for the Play button again. Glad I came across this after a random Googling :)
Thanks again.
Its like you read my mind

This one really did make me think.
Thanks for sharing.
Take Care,

Hey Manly,
It's been a while since I've been reading Hubs. Every time I go onto the dramatic poetry section I see this poem.
I read it again, and again: mainly because I really didn't understand the meaning yet; life being on pause never related to me before.
After a bit of thought I realized how much I really appreciate this work. You go beyond the beauty of words and well into the beauty of the valued moments of life.
Sometimes life goes fast, sometimes slow, but without learning the new we could never grow.
Thanks again for you insight.
Sad in one sense. Inspirational in another. I remember a movie I liked when a younger lad titled "Jeremiah Johnson" played by the actor Robert Redford. I think now of what the pause button means to me today contrasting what it meant to Jeremiah. WOW! And how many people (pause) never get the opportunity to discover the pause button, even though with it comes a struggle. Thank you.
well written.
With your help, i ve ripped my pause button away. Thanks for the motivation. Be blessed
Thanks now i gat no more worries. Stay cool. Bless you
I believe that everyone experience this kind of pause button once in their life. Time are really amazing, it goes very fast when we enjoy something and moves very slow when we are waiting for something. So funny right? That real life pause button is real.

Manly...Thoughtful and entertaining poem...much in common with old Rudyard...
For some reason, probably my commercially conditioned life, I immediately thought " The Pause that refreshes " after reading the title...then, after consideration, I felt it most apropos..take a break from life, recharge, renew, and re-enter life on your own terms...
I really enjoyed this.. Thank you my friend, Larry
